Laser Stretch Mark Removal
When other methods haven't worked, some women consider laser surgery to try to get rid of their stretch marks. This therapy is somewhat new, and does not have much of a track record to base effectiveness off. Laser treatment also works best on darker colored marks. If you have red, brown, or purple marks this may be an option. However, it can be expensive and multiple sessions of the laser therapy are generally required for effectiveness.
How Does Laser STretch Mark Surgery Work?
Lasers can stimulate the growth of new cells and collagen, an important building block of skin. They can also remove layers of dead skin, which can lighten the color of stretch marks. Most literature indicates that laser therapy will not do much to treat light colored stretch marks. However, if the marks are darker than the rest of your pigmentation, it may be able to return the skin to its original color.
How Much Does Laser Therapy Cost?
The cost is a major drawback of this procedure. Plastic surgeons are usually the doctors who offer this service, and their time is not cheap (to say the least). Sessions can cost $200 or more, and multiple treatments are almost always required to see any change. This treatment is really only feasible to those who have a significant amount of disposable income.
